What is Oxygen Advantage®?

Oxygen Advantage® - a science-based breathing system designed to improve health, resilience, and performance.

This article explains the Oxygen Advantage breathing method used in Claudia Schachenmann’s bespoke breathwork.

The method focuses on improving how the body uses oxygen rather than simply breathing more. Through nasal breathing, breath control exercises, and structured breath holds, it helps retrain breathing patterns and increase breathing efficiency.

Oxygen Advantage was developed by breathing expert Patrick McKeown and builds on principles from the Buteyko Method, originally created by physician Konstantin Buteyko.

Why Oxygen Advantage?

Breathing directly influences focus, stress response, energy, and recovery - yet most people never learn how to optimise it.

The technique can benefit anyone, but our work focuses particularly on leaders, fournders, high performers, and individuals operating on the forefront. When breathing becomes more efficient, the body is better equipped to maintain clarity, resilience, and sustained performance.

Regular practice can support:

  • improved performance and physical capacity
  • better recovery and sleep
  • clearer thinking and focus
  • greater resilience

Breathing becomes a practical tool to support both performance and long-term longevity.

How does it work?

Oxygen Advantage retrains breathing through nasal breathing, reduced breathing exercises, and carefully structured breath holds. These practices improve tolerance to carbon dioxide, allowing oxygen to be released more effectively to the brain and muscles through the Bohr Effect. Over time, this leads to more efficient breathing, improved stamina, and a more balanced nervous system.

Oxygen Advantage is safe for most people when practised correctly. However, some conditions require caution. Your safety is always the priority. Please consult a professional if you have:
